Denver to host its own Equality March Sunday as similar rallies occur across the world

Denver will be hosting its own Equality March for Unity and Pride Sunday, joining other cities across the world in rallying to affirm and protect LGBTQ rights and safety.

Organizers hope to mobilize the LGBTQ community as well as its allies, saying the march will put a focus on those who have been silenced and neglected.

Although LGBTQ rights have improved over the past decade, organizers say that progress is threatened in the current political landscape with hostile rhetoric, discriminatory policies and violence.

The rally is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Cheesman Park with a march starting at 10 a.m. A picnic is scheduled for 2 p.m.
